Amendment in the Payment of Wages Act, 1936 in respect of mode of payment of wages.
Dear all,
Your association SIMA is forwarding the proposed amendment in Payment of Wages Act, 1936 by Notification no. F. No. S-31012/2/2016-WC issued on 2nd Dec 2016. The scanned copy of the notification is attached herewith.
Vide the said amendment in section 6 of the Payment of Wages Act, 1936, it is proposed that
“appropriate Government may, by notification in the official Gazette, specify the industrial or other establishment, the employer of which shall pay to every person employed in such industrial or other establishment, the wages either by cheque or by crediting the wages in his bank account”
Vide this notification it is informed to public that the said proposal shall be taken into consideration after 16th Dec 2016 and therefore objections or suggestions are invited from any person/organization with respect to the said proposal. The Central Government shall consider the objection or suggestion received within the time frame stipulated. It is also informed that the objection and suggestion should be addressed to the Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Shram Shakti Bhawan, Rafi Marg, New Delhi – 110 001
So all the colleague industries and their employees are requested to go through the notification and file their objection/suggestion immediately.
