Govt extends the deadline for filing income tax return for a month.

Dear All,

Your association SIMA is in receipt of an Order No.F.No.225/242/2018/ITA.II issued by the Ministry of Finance, Department of Revenue, Central Board of Direct Taxes(ITA.II division) issued on 26th July 2018. The copy of the circular is enclosed herewith.

Vide the order it is informed that for certain categories of taxpayers, the 'due-date' of filling income-tax return for the assessment year 2018-2019 is 31st July 2018. But due to the request from several groups, the Government of India has decided to extend the due-date by a month. The Central Board of Direct Taxes, in the exercise of its powers under section 119 of the Income-tax Act,1961('Act') has extended the 'due-date' of filing income-tax return from 31st July 2018 to 31st August 2018.
