Dear all, 

Your association SIMA is forwarding herewith an Order issued by the Member Secretary, Pollution Control Committee, DNH & DD vide Order No. PCC/DDD/SUP/22-23/184 dated 13/07/2022.

As per the order, the department referred to the PMW Rules,2016 (as amended) by the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change. Also referred to the notification dated 12/2021 which mandated banning of identified SUP item and prescribed minimum thickness of carrying bags with effect from 1st July 2022. 

As per Rule 4 (2) of the PMW Rules, 2016 (as amended), “The manufacture, import, stocking, distribution, sale and use of the following Single Use Plastic (SUP) including polystyrene and expanded polystyrene, commodities shall be prohibited with effect from 1st July 2022. 

1. Ear-buds with plastic sticks, plastic sticks for balloons, plastic flags, candy sticks, ice-cream sticks, and polystyrene (Thermocol) for decoration. 

2. Plates, cups, glasses, cutlery such as forks, spoons, knives, straw, trays, wrapping or packing films around sweet boxes, invitation cards and cigarette packets, plastic or PVC banners less than 100 microns, stirrers etc.

It is also informed that Pollution Control Committee, DNH & DD has set up a Control Room to facilitate activities related to the effective implementation of the SUP Ban, the following staff are nominated to facilitate related activities in the UT of DNH & DD.
